Nouma is a tool for tired parents, not a doctor. This page says plainly what the app’s predictions, insights and AI features are — and what they are not — so you know how far to trust them. It expands on section 2 of our Terms of Use, which govern.
1. Not medical advice
Nouma is not a medical device and provides no medical advice. Nothing in the app or on this site — predictions, insights, lessons, AI answers, sleep plans — is a diagnosis, a treatment or the monitoring of any condition. Always consult a pediatrician or another qualified health professional about your child’s sleep, health, feeding or development. In an emergency, contact your local emergency services. Never delay seeking medical advice because of something Nouma showed you.
2. Predictions are estimates
The next-sleep prediction and the rhythm dial come from patterns in the sleep you log: how long your baby has usually stayed awake at this age and at this time of day. They are estimates, not a schedule. Babies change from week to week, and a prediction can be far off on any given day — after a short night, while teething, when ill, when travelling. Your baby’s own cues always come before the clock.
A prediction is only as good as the log behind it. A missing or late entry, a sleep logged in the wrong place, or another caregiver’s entries that have not synced yet all change what the engine sees. Nouma cannot check who logged what, or whether it was right.
3. AI-generated content
The sleep plan made by AI (with Nouma Plus) and the Ask conversation are written by an artificial-intelligence model from your log and general knowledge about infant sleep. Like any such model it can be inaccurate, incomplete, out of date or simply wrong, and it can sound confident while being so. Treat what it writes as a starting point for your own judgement and for a conversation with your pediatrician, never as instructions. Do not turn to it in a medical emergency: the app cannot help with one.
4. Lessons and general guidance
The daily lessons are general educational content about baby sleep, written for a wide range of children and situations. They are not tailored to your child and do not know their medical history. Age ranges in the lessons, and in the app’s age-based defaults, are approximate; every child develops at their own pace.
5. Nouma is not a monitor
Nouma records what you tell it. It does not watch your baby, and it does not measure breathing, heart rate, temperature, position or anything else about their safety. It cannot alert you if something is wrong. Never use Nouma in place of supervision or of a device intended for monitoring, and always follow the safe-sleep guidance of your pediatrician and your national health authority.
6. Sounds
The soothing sounds are meant to help settle a baby at a moderate volume, from a device placed well away from where they sleep. Loud or very close sound can harm a young child’s hearing. Follow your pediatrician’s advice on volume and distance, and remember that a sound playing is not a reason to leave a baby unattended.
7. Your responsibility
Decisions about your child’s care are yours. By using Nouma you accept that its content is informational, that it can be wrong, and that you will not rely on it in place of professional advice, supervision or common sense. To the extent the law allows, S&Y Software Factory is not liable for decisions made on the basis of the app’s content; the Terms of Use set out the details.
